Organise Your Own Event

One of the best ways to contribute to the work of Task Brasil is to use your own skills and experience to help us raise money.

Over the years people have raised sponsorship through running, swimming and walking as well as organising raffles, jumble sales and fundraising nights at clubs. If you have an idea we can send you an authorisation letter and printed information material to help you approach sponsors.

CASE STUDY

Jon Stone and friends took part in The Great River Race on behalf of Task Brasil on the 7th September. The team raced in a replica Viking Longboat called “The Hammer of the Gods”. It was a great success raising just under £700 in total. A big thank you to all of the crew!

Jon rung the London Marathon for Task Brasil in 2002 and participated in the 2004 “Great River Race” (www.greatriverrace.co.uk) on 11th September . He organised a sponsored-row across the English Channel from Dover to Calais in Viking boat to raise funds for Task Brasil.

Liz Ashton own words:
“I can share with you in writing how pleased my husband and I were to visit Casa Jimmy while on holiday in Brasil in September, 2002, where we were met by Ligia and her Staff who gave us such a warm welcome, and showed us round. We were delighted to meet the children, so friendly, and I really wanted to take Wellington home! He was so affectionate! It was good to see at first hand what I had only read about in the TBT Louboutin Outlet Newsletters, and to learn subsequently of the successful rehabilitation of many of the young people we met that day. Tony and I were happy to give a cheque to Ligia which would buy a sewing-machine for the girls to learn this skill (and maybe the boys, too??)

My own fund-raising in the UK has included organizing and performing in a musical evening “A Taste of Brazil” here in Ely, Cambridgeshire, last October, to coincide with my 60th Birthday. Later on, Mark Ereira of ABC Trust, invited me and my band to be involved in a similar event in Bury St. Edmunds, as part of the Bury St. Edmunds Festival, along with the 50-strong Suffolk School of Samba ~ a very lively evening indeed! A good sum was raised on both occasions.

I have also been pleased to donate a percentage of takings of my CD “Tudo Azul” to assist funds. The CD reached number 4 in the Brazilian Top 100 of HMV Japan after only 2 weeks. Copies are still available!”
